Interesting to see that 80% of participants said public libraries should have programs to teach digital skills... this seems quite relevant to the work we are trying to do with this pilot. Good news!
Then for some reason they call out 3D printers - and to be clear, 3D printers are the output device, rather than the essential tools for modeling, designing, and learning - and only 50% of participants think public libraries should provide access to tools.
This kills me. Can you imagine if people were asked if public libraries should be a good spot to get paper printouts of texts what their response would be? What a silly choice of a tool to highlight when thinking about something as deeply important to any community as collective access to tools.... tools which can be used to read, write, or participate in culture.
