Hi everyone! I'm looking forward to embarking on a new round of workshops for this project tomorrow. Before I do, though, I wanted to share the agenda we used for a series of three workshops here at METRO. Our workshops reach 22 library workers from New York Public Library, Queens Library, and Brooklyn Public Library.
We structured the training around the three components in the Mozilla Web Literacy map -- Reading the Web, Writing the Web, and Participating on the Web. While these workshops seemed successful over all (we were asked by many participants when we would be running them again), there are a couple of tweaks we are putting in practice for the program that starts tomorrow:
- Talk about copyright, fair use, and finding open images early and often
- Re-focus "Participate" curriculum to highlight privacy and security on the web
- Swap the networking (as in, meeting new friends) activity with the HTML cube activity in weeks 2 and 3, respectively
